This theme is inspired by the classic Windows version, with raised gray tiles, a blue window title bar, and red seven-segment counters. All board elements are rendered by this site. Choose your board
Beginner has 9 × 9 squares and 10 mines. Intermediate has 16 × 16 squares and 40 mines. Expert has 30 × 16 squares and 99 mines; on a narrow screen, the board rotates to fit more comfortably. Custom lets you choose your own dimensions and mine count. Your first reveal and its neighboring squares are protected from mines.
Standard uses random boards. No Guess checks each opening with a logic verifier before accepting the board. Choose either option in the toolbar; the Windows-style appearance works with both. For a deduction-focused session, read about No Guess Minesweeper.
Mouse, keyboard, or touch
Click to reveal a square and right-click to place a flag. On a phone, hold a square to flag it, or turn on Flag mode for tap-to-flag play. Numbered squares tell you how many mines are in the neighboring squares. Our how to play Minesweeper lesson lets you practice revealing, flagging, and chording.
Pause hides the board and stops the clock. The smile button starts a new game. The Game menu offers restart and pause controls, Options opens settings, and Help explains the controls without leaving your board. The title bar offers pause, fullscreen, and a return to the Original appearance. Fullscreen availability depends on your browser. Results are saved in this browser and can be reviewed in My stats.
Change the look without leaving your game
This page opens with the Windows appearance selected. To try another appearance, open Settings beside the difficulty buttons. Changing the theme keeps your current board; navigating to another game page starts a separate board. This is a browser game inspired by the original visual style, not a recreation of the Windows desktop application.
